MICHAËL BORREMANS—THE MONKEY
This publication by acclaimed Belgian painter Michaël Borremans, featuring 17 new paintings alongside an essay by Katya Tylevich, serves as the ideal complement to the artist’s 2024 exhibition The Monkey at the David Zwirner gallery in London.
Borremans portrays mysterious sitters and depicts enigmatic scenes that simultaneously invite viewers in and keep them at bay. The essay delves into the complex emotional and art-historical registers at play in the artist’s new paintings and maps the trajectory of his practice. Both elements—contextual essay and new artwork—are separated and presented on different paper stocks.

We worked closely together with the artist on creating this book to bring out his vision and to coexist with a previous exhibition and publication called The Acrobat. Aside from the design, we also took care of production management.
