THE RUBENS GARDEN
This book was published on the occasion of the inauguration of the new and redesigned garden of the famous Rubens House in Antwerp, on the 29th of August 2024.
It contains the results from rigorous research into historical sources from archives and libraries, in preparation of the garden’s restoration. Fashion designer Dries Van Noten consulted on the colour scheme, while landscape architects Ars Horti drew inspiration from the historic research to select a range of plants that would have also been cultivated in Belgian gardens in the 17th century: tulips, snake’s head fritillaries and fig trees.
The book also presents an overview of the most important flowers and plants that were used, accentuated with artwork details by Rubens and his peers, and archival references.

For the cover we picked a special foil colour with pearlescent effect. The typography ranges from nearly transparant to silver while moving in light.
Aside from the English edition, there was also a Dutch version of the book, called Rubens’ tuin: Een meesterwerk in bloei.
